Illinois Ranks Among Top States For Ice Cream Search Interest

Fact Checked by Michael Peters

There are few ways to beat back the searing summer heat quite like a nice cup or cone full of whatever ice cream flavor suits your fancy.

Few states share a collective interest in the delicacy quite like Illinois, which ranked in the top-15 nationally when it comes to search interest in the dessert.

IllinoisBet.com, typically home to Illinois sports betting coverage, used Google Trends to calculate the most ice cream crazy states by search volume from April 21, 2022 to April 21, 2023.

A point system was developed, giving up to 50 points for search rank. Up to 50 points were also awarded for each state’s search rank among the most popular ice cream flavors by Google Trends search volume (vanilla, chocolate and strawberry).
