A Fast Start and a Stunning Finish to the First Half

The Bears came out sharp, grabbing a 10-0 lead early when D’Andre Swift ran it in for a touchdown. The Patriots made it interesting when Drake Maye kept it himself and scored on the ground. Chicago pushed back with a field goal, then Caleb Williams fired a touchdown pass to Luther Burden to restore a comfortable cushion.

Then came a moment nobody saw coming. New England had the ball at midfield with five seconds left in the half. Maye tossed a short pass to Rhamondre Stevenson, who somehow eluded every Bears defender set up to stop a Hail Mary. He raced 48 yards to the end zone, and just like that, a game that seemed under control was tighter than anyone expected.

Second Half Slugfest

Williams opened the third quarter by finding tight end Colston Loveland for a 12-yard touchdown pass, stretching the lead to 27-14. The Patriots refused to go away, though. Maye answered by connecting with Eli Raridon on a 30-yard touchdown, and suddenly the margin was down to six.

The Bears’ offense stalled twice in the fourth quarter, but the defense came up big with a red-zone stop to get the ball back. Cairo Santos had missed a 51-yard field goal on the previous possession, but he stepped up again and drilled a 58-yard kick with 1:39 left to make it 30-21.

New England had burned all of its timeouts, so it had to spike the ball with 36 seconds remaining and settle for a field goal. That cut the lead to 30-24, but the Patriots could not recover the onside kick. Rome Odunze caught the pass and secured the win.

What Comes Next

Chicago improved to 5-2 and now has a full 11 days to rest, heal, and prepare for a trip to the Pacific Northwest. A showdown with the Seattle Seahawks awaits on Monday Night Football, and it could easily preview a playoff matchup. Fans will be watching closely, and many will have their favorite Illinois sports betting apps open as the spotlight shines on a Bears team that is no longer a surprise. With a gutsy win behind them, Chicago is ready for the next big test.
