The second month of 2024 had the first positive movement in terms of gaming revenues for casinos in Illinois, putting to bed the dreary start to the year that January’s totals produced.

There are no legal online Illinois casinos.

Overall, Illinois casinos took in $137,678,865 in casino revenue in February, which represented a 16% increase from January’s total of $118,642,380, to go with a 19.7% year-over-year increase from the $115,016,247 the operators took in in February 2023.

Of that total, $102,980,437 came from electronic gaming devices (up 18.4% from $86,962,064 in January), while the revenue total from gaming devices ($34,698,428 in February) was up 9.5% month-over-month from the $31,680,315 the facilities took in during January.

That breakdown was slightly less pronounced year-over-year, with the state’s EGDs jumping 16.96% in revenue (from $88,046,773 in February 2023 to $ 102,980,437 in 2024).  Year-over-year growth in terms of table games revenue (28.7%, from $26,969,474 in 2023 to $34,698,428 in 2024) was more pronounced.

Looking at Early 2024 Totals

Through two months, the revenue total in Illinois stands at $256,321,245, with $189,942,501 (or 74.1% of the state’s total) coming from EGDs. A total of $66,378,743 (or 25.9%) has come from table games at the state’s casinos.

The two-month average when it comes to Illinois casino revenue ($128,160,622) is currently on pace to knock off 2023’s monthly average of $126,795,081.08 as the state’s highest in recorded history.

If Illinois casinos continue at their current pace, they will finish the 2024 fiscal year with $1,537,927,464 in gaming revenues, which would represent a 1.1% increase overall in the Land of Lincoln.

The next Illinois sportsbooks revenue report will come later this month.
