Rivers Casino Again Leads Way in Illinois Casino Report
Fact Checked by Pat McLoone

Illinois’ 15 casinos reported more than $129 million in Total Adjusted Gross Receipts for October 2023, according to Wednesday’s report of the Illinois Gaming Board. That was about a 2.5% decline from September’s Total Adjusted Gross Receipts (TAGR) of about $132.34 million.

The decline in overall TAGR was mostly attributable to a dip in slots adjusted gross revenue, which slid a little more than $6 million month-to-month.

In terms of taxes for October, the state share was almost $32.14 million, and the local share was a little more than $7.74 million.

There are no legal Illinois online casinos.

Rivers Casino Leads Way

Looking at individual casinos, as usual, the Rivers Casino Des Plaines, near Chicago, home was the statewide leader with nearly $43.3 million in TAGR. When online casinos become legal in the state, the Rivers Casino will be the home of the BetRivers Illinois online casino.

The only other casinos that hit eight figures in TAGR were Grand Victoria Casino in Elgin, with about $11.79 million, and Harrah's Joliet Casino & Hotel with $10.11 million.

Bally’s, the temporary casino in Chicago proper that opened in September and is located in the historic Medinah Temple, had about $7.61 million TAGR for October. Chicago’s permanent casino isn’t expected to be ready until 2026.

Here is a rundown of the 15 casinos (alphabetical order, with TAGR):---Argosy Casino Alton, $2,626,212
