When Will Chicago Bears Sustain Their First Loss in 2023?
Fact Checked by Jim Tomlin

With the start of the NFL season less than three weeks away, IllinoisBet.com continues its Illinois sports betting coverage by looking at the Chicago Bears’ schedule and trying to determine the week that the team is most likely to take its first loss in the 2023 NFL season.

After examining the schedule and crunching the numbers, IllinoisBet compiled odds to predict when this will occur. Here is what we came up with:

Chicago Bears First Loss Odds

Week Opponent Odds Percent Chance
1 vs. Green Bay Packers +120 45.5%
2 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers +200 33.3%
3 at Kansas City Chiefs +400 20.0%
4 vs. Denver Broncos +20000 0.5%
5 at Washington Commanders +20000 0.5%

Chicago Bears 2023 Odds

These specific odds are purely hypothetical and not available at any Illinois sportsbook apps, but they reflect the current view of the market as best as possible.

Coming off a 3-14 season that set the franchise record for most losses, the Bears enter 2023 looking for significant development under second-year head coach Matt Eberflus. After being favored in only two games in 2022, Chicago opens at Soldier Field as 2.5-point favorites over the division rival Green Bay Packers in their first game of 2023, per DraftKings Sportsbook.

Both teams sport identical season long futures odds, but Chicago’s homefield advantage gives them the edge against the spread in this one. The Bears and Packers each sit at +400 to win the NFC North while boasting over/under win totals of 7.5, tied for the lowest in the division.

The Chicago Bears playoff chances could get a boost if they win their opener against their eternal rival.

Chicago has lost its past eight meetings with Green Bay, but this is expected to be the worst Packers team in years. Before this season, Green Bay’s preseason over/under had not been below 8.5 since 2007, according to SportsOddsHistory.com; that was Brett Favre’s final year with the team.

Bears Outlook After The Opener

Should the Bears get past the Packers in Week 1, Chicago would be in position for its first 2-0 start since 2020. They travel to Tampa Bay in Week 2 to face the Buccaneers, who have the second shortest odds for the fewest regular season wins at +700 on DraftKings.

IllinoisBet.com offers weekly Chicago Bears Super Bowl odds updates all season.

The Bears are favored by 1.5 points against the Bucs. But Chicago is not projected to be favored in another game after this until Week 7 at home versus the Las Vegas Raiders. The last time Chicago played a game as a road favorite was week 12 of the 2021 season when they faced off with the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving.

The Bears’ most difficult game of the year comes in Week 3 when they venture to Kansas City for a date with the defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs, who are listed as 9.5-point favorites. As one might expect, customers using the BetMGM bonus code Illinois can get +6000 odds on the Bears to win the Super Bowl.

In the unlikely event the Bears win their first three games, they would match their win total from all of the 2022 season.

In the fourth and fifth games of the regular season, Chicago faces back-to-back contests versus the Denver Broncos and Washington Commanders, where the Bears presently stand as 1.5-point underdogs. Chicago has +7000 odds to be the last undefeated team in the league, though they maintain the lowest odds for biggest regular season win improvement at +210.
